One Giant Leap
My name is __________ and my job is to cut gun-related deaths between police and the public by 50% in 10 years.
Sixty years ago, U.S. President John F. Kennedy rallied the nation behind a mission to put a human on the moon, setting a goal that would "serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone."
Axon is embarking on a new moonshot goal, one that won't be measured in miles traveled, but in lives saved.
Gun-related deaths between police and the public in the United States are on the rise. In 2021, 1,118 lives - 1,054 civilian and 64 officer - were lost in the U.S. in fatal encounters between police and the public.
In the next decade, we will cut gun-related deaths between police and the public in half.
While this mission is U.S.-centric, achieving this moonshot will require the cooperation and effort of public safety agencies, Axon employees and community members globally. Public safety is more than a profession -- it is a calling. A hope that when individuals and organizations come together to prioritize the protection of life, we can make a difference. Achieving our moonshot goal, and promoting public safety around the world more broadly, will require many small steps and many giant leaps.
To this end, we are encouraging all of our partners and employees, current and upcoming, to consider:
What is your one giant leap?
What is a goal you have for 2023 that you believe will make the world a safer place? Whatever it is, Axon wants to help make it happen. Join our team and see your One Giant Leap over the finish line.
